Wendell Gene Mullins, 68, of Axtell, passed away Saturday, April 4, 2026 at his home in Axtell, Texas. He was born in Waco, Texas to Bobby Gene and Shirley (Wilcox) Mullins on June 13, 1957.

He attended school at Midway High. He was a veteran and joined the United States Marine Corp. in 1974. He worked for William Cameron Mills Company and Dollar General Stores. His hobbies included bowling and shooting pool. He enjoyed football and baseball, especially the Texas Rangers.

Wendell was preceded in death by grandparents, Raymond and Cleo (Miller) Mullins and R.O. and Lucy (Lay) Wilcox; father, Bobby G. Mullins; stepfather, Raymond Hale.

Survivors include his mother, Shirley G. Mullins; sisters, Gina Williams (Ric) of Axtell, Marla Parker of Bruceville; brothers, Randy Mullins (Debi) of Bruceville, Kenneth Mullins (Maricelle) of San Antonio; uncle, William Mullins of Cedar Park; aunt, Debbie Mullins Hart (Bob) of Quitman; numerous nieces and nephews, as well as many great nieces and nephews. Wendell was blessed and grateful for the love and care given by Gina and Ric Williams.

Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 7th at Pecan Grove Funeral Home.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 8th at Eddy Cemetery with Chaplain Brandon Burrows officiating.

Pallbearers will be Justin Holland, Jeremy Mullins, Hayden Mullins, Chance Feldman, Dean Everett, and Katlyn Womack.

Special thanks to Dr. Elieson and Scott and White Hospice Team: Jose, Lexi, Kelly, Susan, Angie, Chaplain Brandon, and Dean Everett for the passionate care they have provided over the last few years.
