Weldon Jean Hill

October 13, 1929 — December 21, 2025

Waco, Texas

Weldon J. Hill entered into the arms of Christ Jesus, his Savior, on Sunday, December 21, 2025. Funeral services will be Friday, January 9 at 1pm at Meadowbrook Baptist Church, 1207 N Old Robinson Rd, Waco, with David Cozart officiating. There will be a viewing on Tuesday, December 30 from 6pm to 8pm at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 Robinson Drive, Waco.

Weldon was a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. He was born October 13, 1929 to William Edward and Goldie V. Hill. He married Bobbie Jean Hill on August 25, 1950 and they celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary before her passing.

Weldon devoted his life to serving others through his family, his faith, and his community. He served the City of Waco with distinction as a firefighter for 39 years, from 1953 until his retirement in 1993, answering countless calls with courage, and compassion. Weldon often said his greatest joy was helping people as a fireman, a calling he embraced wholeheartedly throughout his career. He was especially proud of his work and the brotherhood of the fire department, cherishing the memories and friendships formed over decades of service. In addition to firefighting, Weldon was a licensed pilot and became the first Waco fireman assigned to the fire station at Waco Regional Airport. He was a devoted husband and partner to Bobbie, and together they shared a love of travel, whether flying with their young family or later exploring the country by RV with friends and extended family including for square dancing events and competions. Weldon was a faithful member of Meadowbrook Baptist Church and lived his life guided by his deep love for Christ, his family, and his community.

Weldon was preceded in death by his father and mother William Edward and Goldie V. Hill; his brother Roland Edward Hill; his son, Weldon Robert (Bob) Hill; his daughter Deborah Hill Fedro; his grandsons, Justin Weldon O’Brien and Mike Hill; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law R.C. and Ruth Farr.

He is survived by his brother Raymond Lee Hill and wife Joyce; his sister Edith Kral; his son Edward Lee Hill; and daughter-in-law Millie Hill. He is also survived by grandchildren Jennifer O’Brien Thorp and Tyler Hill; great-grandchildren Anastasia and Wyatt Randall and Aedan Thorp; along with numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
