Wanda Brooks

June 15, 1933 — July 2, 2021

Wanda Warren Brooks was surrounded by her loving family as she transitioned from this earth to her heavenly home on July 2, 2021 at the age of 88. A Celebration of Life will be 10 a.m. Thursday, July 8 at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 N. Robinson Dr., Waco with Dr. Cary Killough officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Waco Memorial Park Mausoleum. Visitation will be held 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 7 at the funeral home.

Wanda was the youngest child of three born to Euel M. and Ida B. Warren on June 15, 1933 in Waco, TX. She lived in Bellmead and graduated from La Vega High school where she was a cheerleader and homecoming queen. She married her high school sweetheart, Bobby Brooks, on May 5, 1951. The newlyweds moved to San Diego where Bobby was stationed in the Navy. After returning to Waco, they welcomed a son David and later, a daughter Lori.

Wanda worked various jobs, but she took great pride in being a homemaker. Her home was a home of love based on Faith. She was a great cook, talented seamstress, had a love for growing beautiful flowers, and provided a loving Christian home for her family. She loved spending time with her favorite son, David and favorite daughter, Lori who were so important to her. Her other great joys were in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bobby R. Brooks; brother, Joe Warren and wife Judy; sister, Joyce Ann Ray and husband Jim; in-laws, Marguerite and Robert Brooks; sister in-law, ZoeWanna Ewert and husband Hank; nephews, Kevin McMillan and Brian Ray.

Wanda is survived by her favorite son, David Brooks and wife Audrey; her favorite daughter, Lori Ann Hoke and husband Michael; granddaughters, Ravay Richardson, Monica Cloe and husband Barak, Shelby Richardson; grandsons, Tyler Richardson and wife Hailey, Cody Brooks and wife Sarah Beth; great-grandchildren, Aydan, Ryker, Lillian, and Dax.

She will be remembered for her kindness, Christian faith, dedication to family, love of Dr. Pepper, and oh those famous brownies.

The family would like to send their heartfelt appreciation and thanks to the care provided by Meadowbrook Homebound Ministry, Stoney Brook of Hewitt, Bluebonnet Hospice, and Visiting Angels. We appreciate the love that was given to Wanda.
