Walter Donald Robertson, 90, of Robinson, went to be with his Lord and Savior on 06/21/2026. He passed away peacefully in his home where family and friends were able to visit in his last days.
Donald was born on September 7, 1935, in Brownwood, Texas. He graduated from Comanche High School in 1953. In 1949, as a freshman in CHS, he met the love of his life, Peggy Levisay. After waiting 2 years for him to ask her out, she finally took matters into her own hands. She asked Donald to the Sadie Hawkins dance in the 11th grade, and this is where their story began. They were married on July 17th, 1955, and they enjoyed 66 years together.
Donald started working for the Santa Fe Railroad soon after graduating high school. This took him to many locations early in his career. He retired with over 40 years of service. He loved reminiscing about the railroad days.
They lived in Comanche until 1968 when they moved to Clifton, TX. He was very active at the First Baptist Church of Clifton. He was always willing to quietly serve in the background; setting up tables and chairs for church functions, serving food and desserts, visiting shut-ins, and helping out wherever needed. He served on the money counting team and on the property and grounds committee. He and Peggy were active and consistent volunteers at the Clifton Lutheran Sunset Home, where they brightened the days of many of the residents. After moving to Robinson in 2009, they became active members of Meadowbrook Baptist Church. They were present at most activities at the church for many years.
Donald loved eating out and going to all the new food “joints” in town. He loved his family and especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed everything Baylor. He and Peggy attended Baylor football games from 1973 through 2019. Their favorite was the Lady Bears Basketball Team. He enjoyed reading, collecting coins, and western art.
Donald’s most defining gift to his family was his incredible love for his wife Peggy. His undying devotion to her was a shining example of how we should love each other. He led his family with integrity, gentleness and a strong work ethic, which always included excellence. He taught these qualities to both of his children, and they have benefitted greatly from his example. While he did not have the opportunity for higher education, it was important to him, and he made a way for both of his children to graduate from Baylor University. His provision, strong character, and love will live on through our family. We will miss him and love him dearly, but we know we will be reunited one day.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Shuford and Eula Robertson, a son, Ronnie, age 7, and his wife of 66 years Peggy.
Survivors include son, Brian Robertson, and wife, Lisa Ann, of Denton; daughter, Lisa Rene Sanchez and husband JR Sanchez, of Hewitt; and grandchildren, Lauren Robertson, and husband, Miguel Manzano of Peru, Evan Robertson of Denton, and Jake Sanchez of Hewitt.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 24, at 10:00 AM with a memorial service following at 11:00 AM at Pecan Grove Funeral Home in Waco, Texas. Graveside Service will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Comanche, Texas at 3:00 PM Wednesday, June 24th.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to ParaPeru, 6620 Purbeck Trail, Denton, TX 76210, www.paraperu.org , where Donald’s granddaughter Lauren Robertson Manzano serves as a missionary, or to Meadowbrook Baptist Church missions fund, 1207 N. Old Robinson Rd., Robinson, TX 76706.
