Vickie Dell Gorgas, 70, passed away on Thursday, August 28th in Fort Worth, Texas at her home, surrounded by her loving husband and children, after an 11-month battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born in Waco, Texas to Matthew and Virginia Lane on April 20, 1955. She married Paul Wayne Gorgas on August 14, 1976, in Waco, Texas.
She attended and graduated from University High School in 1973. She also attended McLennan Community College for a year after high school. Her calling in life was to be a wife and mother, and she was both to the ultimate capacity. Her superpower was the innate way to make everyone she was in contact with to feel the ultimate level of special. She went back to work in the hospice field after her kids were grown before retiring.
Vickie was preceded in death by her parents, Matthew Lane, Virginia and Jim Spencer, her brother Randy Lane, her sister Brenda Moon, a brother-in-law Steve Moon, one nephew, Dustin Moon, and her grand dog, Daisy Mae.
Survivors include her husband of 49 years, Paul, of Fort Worth, daughter Michelle Colwick and husband Michael, daughter Tricia Engel and husband Blake, son Matt Gorgas and wife Megan, five grandchildren- Hunter, Kaitlyn, Madelynn, Baylee, and Ellie. Her brother, Rusty Lane, and many nieces and nephews. Her fur baby Charlie, and her grand dogs Gracie, Remi, and Sic’Em.
Visitation will be Tuesday, September 2nd, at 10:00 am at Pecan Grove Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 am, Tuesday, September 2nd at Pecan Grove Funeral Home with David Cozart officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Michael Colwick, Blake Engel, Hunter Colwick, Avery Rice, Jake Morphew, and Matt King.
Memorials may be given to Fuzzy Friends Rescue or Pancreatic Cancer Research.
The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Baylor All Saints Cancer Center, Texas Oncology, and Halo Hospice. Also, many thanks to our amazing hospice nurse, Kortnie, and our CNA’s Shiloh and Anna.
