Susie Hawkins-Garrett

Susie Hawkins Garrett, 83, of Waco, passed away on December 31, 2021 from complications of COPD. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. January 12, 2022 at the Rosemound Cemetery, 3201 S. 12th Street in Waco, Texas.

Susie was born on April 16, 1938 to Jack and Irene Hawkins in Moody, Texas. She graduated from Lorena in 1956. Susie and Jimmy were married on May 25, 1956. They were married for 48 years before he passed away in 2004. They ran a dairy farm together for many years before Susie went on to manage the Jiffy Mart and then the Texaco. When they retired they moved to Waco to be closer to family. She adored her family, her dog, the holidays, gardening, and the great and great-great nieces and nephews that she enjoyed spoiling.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Garrett; her parents, Jack and Irene Hawkins; her brother, Phillip Hawkins; and her beloved dog, Prissy.

She is survived by her sister, Jackie Lewis; sister, Diane Anderton; and her brother, Stanley Hawkins and wife Sylvia. Her niece (who was more like a daughter to her and whom she was living with for the past two years) Melanie Bowman and husband Rodney. Numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and a dozen or so great-great nieces and nephews.
