Steven R. “Steamer” Swaner was born April 25, 1945, to W.H. “Bill” Swaner and Opal Busby Swaner in Waco Texas. Steamer joined his lord and savior and his loving wife, Marsha, on Monday August 17, 2026.
Steamer was a graduate of the 1963 Class of LaVega High School in Waco and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree from Sam Houston State University. Steamer returned to Waco and was a lifelong resident of McLennan County, Texas.
He met his soul mate Marsha Young and married her October 11, 1969. Together Steamer and Marsha raised their family. Their children were son Albert Leathers and wife, Tami, along with granddaughter Laci, daughter Karen Williams husband, Jeff, along with grandsons Brent and Chance, son Pasquale Swaner, daughter Kellie Swaner along with sons Monte and Keen “Pooh”, and son Angel Nan Evaline.
Along with his family, Steamer and Marsha began the legendary Swaner Brahmans. Swaner Brahmans led multiple National and International champions to numerous backdrop photos. The SRS prefix and “S” brand are known worldwide having shared genetics in over 25 countries and across the United States. Steamer was a man of his word, and his solid and firm handshake was his bond. Many Brahman deals were made with Swaner Brahmans over nothing more than a handshake with Steamer Swaner.
Steamer was an integral part of the American Brahman Breeders Association serving as a director for much of his lifetime. He was also a dedicated director of the Heart O’ Texas Fair Association as well.
Without a doubt Steamer loved his cattle but there was nothing in this world he loved more than watching his grandsons play football. He braved wind and rain and sleet and snow to watch the boy’s play.
