Shirley Gynell (Wilcox) Mullins of Axtell, Texas passed away Friday, May 1, 2026 at her home surrounded by her family. Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 7th at Eddy Cemetery with Bubba Strickland officiating. There will be a visitation from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 6th at Pecan Grove Funeral Home.
Shirley was born June 24, 1937 to Robert O. (R.O.) and Lucy O. (Lay) Wilcox in Eddy, Texas. She attended Bruceville-Eddy school, graduating from University High School in 1955. She retired from McLennan County Auditors Office in June 2000.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Bobby G. Mullins and Raymond A. Hale; son, Wendell Mullins; sister, Helen and Bob Woodruff; brothers, Willis C. and Monnie Wilcox, Barney and Carol Wilcox, Robert E. Wilcox; In-laws, Raymond and Cleo Mullins, Dorothy and James Guthrie, and Tommie Mullins; son-in-law, Lent (Boyd) Parker; and nephew, Gaylon Wilcox.
Shirley is survived by her children, Gina Williams (Ric) of Axtell, Randy Mullins (Debi) of Bruceville, Marla Parker of Bruceville, Kenneth Mullins (Mariselle) of San Antonio; adopted son, Delbert (Dean) Everett of Axtell; brother-in-law, William L. Mullins of Cedar Park; sister-in-law, Debbie (Mullins) Hart (Bob) of Quitman; 24 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; as well as her life-long best friend, Sally Whisenhunt. Shirley was blessed and forever grateful for the love and care given by daughter and son-in-law, Gina and Ric Williams.
Pallbearers will be Justin Holland, J.R. Mullins, Hayden Mullins, Jeremy Mullins, Rick Bettinger, and Chance Feldman. Honorary Bearers will be Ric Williams, Randy Mullins, Dean Everett, and Kenny Lyons.
The family would like to send a special thank you to the Baylor Scott & White Hospice team, Dr. Deaton, Jose, Mollie, and Kelle, as well as Amy Hajek, FNP at Baylor Scott & White Westfield Clinic, and Sally Whisenhunt, Cheyenne Bettinger, and Dean Everett for all the care and support they all provided for Shirley in the last few weeks.
