Shelli Jo Elkins, a beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, granddaughter, and friend, passed away unexpectedly, leaving behind a lifetime of memories and countless people who loved her dearly.

Shelli was the devoted wife of Preston Elkins, with whom she shared seven years of marriage. She was a loving mother to Derrick Meyers, Shelbi Meyers, and Kenzie Wyss, who were among the greatest joys of her life.

Shelli lived her entire life in the Central Texas area. She attended Lorena ISD, where she completed her education from kindergarten through 12th grade. She later followed her passion for caring for others by attending McLennan Community College, where she graduated with a degree in nursing.

Shelli lived her life to the fullest. She had a way of facing life with a smile and always tried to keep that smile on her face, even through difficult times. Her caring heart, strength, and love for her family will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

She leaves behind her husband, Preston; her children, Derrick Meyers, Shelbi Meyers, and Kenzie Wyss; her mother, Donna Richard; her brother, Jeremy Richard, and his wife, Jill; her niece, Skylar; her grandmother, Irene Sharp; and many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and friends throughout Central Texas.

She was preceded in death by her father, Jerry Richard.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has expressed their love, prayers, and support to Shelli and her family during this unexpected loss. A special thank-you goes to those who made monetary donations to help with funeral expenses. Your kindness and generosity during this difficult time have meant more than words can express.

Shelli will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her. Though her time with us was far too short, the love she gave, the lives she touched, and the memories she created will remain in the hearts of her family and friends forever.

Graveside services will be held at Waco Rosemound Cemetery on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at 10:00 am.
