Samuel Solis Hernandez, age 77, entered the gates of Heaven on February 7, 2026. He was born on August 5,1948, in Brady, Texas to Andres and Anita Hernandez, the second of eight children.
Samuel spent his early years in Brady, TX, before his family moved to Brownwood, Texas where he met and married the love of his life, Rosa Ramos, in 1966. Together they built a life rooted in Love, Faith and Family. In 1973, Samuel and Rosa moved to Waco, Texas where he spent the next 52 years of his life.
A hardworking and dedicated man, Samuel worked as a cement contractor for 40 years, providing for his family through honest labor and perseverance. Above all else, he devoted his life to his family and to his Christian Faith. At the age of 27, he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and was baptized, a decision that shaped the rest of his life.
God later called Samuel into ministry, and he faithfully served as a pastor for many years until his health declined. He was well known throughout his ministry for always lending a helping hand, no matter the situation. His heart for service extended beyond borders through his missionary work in Mexico, and throughout the state of Texas where he evangelized alongside his pastor and dear friend, Pastor Manuel Herrera Sr.
Samuel was deeply devoted to his faith in Christ, yet he was also a man full of surprises-quick with a joke, warm with laughter, and overflowed with joy. He was loving, nonjudgemental, and welcoming to all. He loved to sing, listen to music, and celebrate life, but most of all, he loved his family deeply and completely.
Samuel’s final words reflected the faith he lived by: he expressed his desire for all his family to seek Christ, so that one day they may be reunited again in the Glory Land.
Samuel was preceded in death by his loving wife Rosa Hernandez, his sons Valentino and Samuel Louis Hernandez, his grand-daughters Ashely Nicole and Estella Rose Hernandez, His parents Andres and Anita Hernandez and his siblings, Vincent, Alice, Margie, Teresa and Andrew Jr.
He is survived by his brother George Hernandez and his wife America Hernandez and their family. His sister Juanita Velaquez and her husband Chewy. He is also survived by his children: daughters Gina and Michelle Hernandez, April Hall; his son’s Moses Hernandez, and Mario Hernandez and his wife Teresa.
Samuel leaves behind a cherished legacy through his grandchildren: Priscilla, Donna, Isaac, Benjamin, Ramiro Jr, Jacob, Alionso Delfin; Valentino and Sammy Hernandez; Solo Joel Rivera; Moses Isaiah, Mercedes, Angel, Gena, Adrian Hernandez; and Daniel Hernandez, who was more like a son than a grandson to him. He is also Survived by 14 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be: Isaac, Ramiro Jr., Jacob, Alionso, Daniel and Valentino.
Samuel’s life was a testimony of Faith, Service, Humility, and Unconditional Love. His legacy will continue to live on through the lives he touched and the family he loved so deeply. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
