Ruble Wallace Walker, 81, of Robinson, passed away on Sunday, May 11, 2025 at Providence Village in Waco, Texas.
He was born on July 22, 1943 to William and Lola Clark Walker and grew up on a family farm in Chilton, Texas. He married Lucinda (Cindy) Wilkin on August 17, 1968. He worked for The Waco Tribune-Herald and attended McLennan Community College and Baylor University before moving to Huntsville, Texas, to begin a career with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice that would span over fifty years.
Mr. Walker was dedicated to his career and received many letters from former incarcerated persons and their families, thanking him for his kindness and encouragement. He was also dedicated to his family, and enjoyed spending time with his brother and sisters and their families throughout his life. He was extraordinarily proud of his children and his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved siblings, including his sister, Pearl Beachamp and her husband, Johnny; sister, Ima Walter and her husband, Louie; and his brother, William (Sonny) Walker and his wife, Freddie.
He is survived by his wife, Cindy, of Waco; his daughter, Natalie Hafford and husband Curtis of China Spring; and his daughter, Amanda Compo and husband Jason of Robinson. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Randi (Mitchell) Sanderson of Charlotte, MI, Colleen (Trent) McAninch of Lorena, Victoria and Lucy Compo of Robinson and Tre' and Evan Hafford of China Spring; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews and their families.
Mr. Walker suffered from cardiac arrest in March of 2017. He was given a grim prognosis, but miraculously survived in large part to Dr. Henderson and Nurse Liz of BSW Hillcrest. He maintained his appreciation and love for these two medical professionals throughout the remainder of his life and appreciated the extra (almost) decade of life he was given. Our family would also like to extend our utmost thanks and appreciation to the nurses and staff at Providence Village, where he received loving care the last two years of his life, and to Community Hospice of Waco.
