Roger Sauer, 80, of Downsville, TX left his earthly life to join his Heavenly Father on Saturday, January 9, 2021. In lieu of services, the family will receive visitors to celebrate Roger on Sunday, January 17th from 2 - 4pm at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 Robinson Drive, Waco.
Roger was born October 7, 1940 to Ben and Dana Sauer. He married his lifelong love, Jimmie, in May of 1961. Roger was a man who wore many hats in his lifetime. He spent many years working as a truck driver and a welder, and ultimately retired as a truck driver from Brazos Valley Equipment. He was a son, brother, husband, and father, but the title he was most proud to bear was Papo to his grandchildren.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Jimmie in 2019. He is survived by his sister, Dorothy Heaton of Robinson, his children Michael Sauer and wife Alice, David Sauer and wife Shelane, and Jennifer Ripley and husband Kenneth. He was proud Papo to his grandchildren Maegon Sauer, Ashley Armstrong and husband Dray, Cory Sauer, Grace Sauer, and Logan Sauer.
If you knew Roger, you’d likely refer to him as a stern and determined man, but those who knew him best know that his greatest desire was to provide a good life for his family. You’d also know that nothing brought him greater joy than being able to celebrate the successes and achievements of his children and most importantly his grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in Roger’s name.
