Robert Gene Lucas

Robert “Bob” Gene Lucas, 81, of Hewitt, TX, passed away Sunday, May 26, 2024. A celebration of life will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 3, at Pecan Grove Funeral Home. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 a.m.

Bob was born April 29, 1943, to Earl Roosevelt and Borghild (Highum) Lucas in Albert Lea, Minnesota. He joined the US Army in 1963 and was in the Army reserves for 19 years. Bob went to Wadena Technical College to earn a degree to be a lineman. He was hired by NW Bell Telephone and retired after 31 years. Robert met Bonnie Shiflett in 1968 and married August 15, 1969. They were blessed with three children, Jason Lucas, Jennifer Lucas, and Melissa Lucas along with their grandchildren, Joseph, Matthew, Alex, Maggie, Isabella, Emily, and Abby.

Bob enjoyed camping with Bonnie, spending time with special needs children, and helping with his church. He loved spending time with his children and being involved in their lives.

As dementia took hold on him, he still did his nightly devotions and prayers.

He was greatly loved and will be missed.
