René Magaña

René Alberto Magaña, age 70, of Waco, Texas passed away on January 11th, 2023.

His family will receive visitors at 12 P.M. on Tuesday, January 17th, at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 N. Robinson Dr. Waco, Texas 76706. Services will immediately follow at 1 P.M. in the funeral home chapel with Gustavo Dubon officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Waco, Texas. All are welcome.

He is survived by his loving wife Maria del Carmen Magaña, his children and grandchildren, Eric Anaya and son, Angela Segovia and husband Lúis Morales and their five children, Ben Magaña and wife Nadya Magaña and their four children, and daughter Nancy L. Magaña and her four dogs.

René grew up in the country of El Salvador where he served as a sergeant in their military. He came to the United States of America at the age of 35 and worked as a landscaper. He married his best friend, Maria, in 1987. He and his family moved to Waco, Texas in 1998, where he continued landscaping and his wife started her ice cream truck business "Maria's Ice Cream" that he later joined her in. During his free time René enjoyed carpentry, landscaping with his wife, going to the shooting range, and having fellowship with friends from church.

René loved reading God's word and his love for reading scripture never wavered through becoming blind and fighting cancer. He was an extraordinary man who loved God and his family with all of his heart.

His family is grateful to know that he is in the arms of God and finally healed and at peace.
