Raymond "Ray" Gene Horne Sr.

Raymond Gene Horne Sr. (Ray), age 78, of Waco, Texas, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, December 14, 2025 peacefully while at home.

Family and friends will gather for visitation from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, December 21, 2025 at Pecan Grove Funeral Home. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, December 22, 2025 at Powers Chapel Cemetery with Military Honors. The officiants will be Pastor Don Fulton and Pastor Ronnie Holmes.

Ray was born on June 27, 1947, in Rockingham, North Carolina, to Thomas Grant Horne and Alice Matthis. Ray served in the US Army from 1965-1975 earning a Bronze Star, Silver Star and other service medals. Ray was a life member of the VFW Post 2148 & Vietnam Veterans of America. He found so much joy in giving back to his veteran community, Ray's daily life was not only devoted to studying God's word but living it out in his day-to-day walk.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Horne and Alice Matthis; and three brothers, Jimmy Horne, Ray Horne and Joe Horne.

Ray is survived by his wife of 58 years, Linda Diane (Cox) Horne; son; Skipper Horne; daughter, Tammie Horne; brother, Tommy Horne and wife Karen; sisters, Mary Alice Miller, Lucy Shue and husband Mark; grandchildren; Caleb Curtis, Melayna and Coleman Horne, Rachel Williams and Sierra Matsko; along with several nephews, nieces and cousins.
