Ramon Vargas, Sr.

Ramon Vargas, 75, of Waco, TX, passed away on October 9, 2025, in Temple, TX. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 15, at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, with Pastor David Cozart officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. The family will receive visitors from 6 – 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 14, at the funeral home.

Ray was born in New York, New York, to Pablo and Maria (Ruiz) Vargas. He married Anna Marie Romo in 1978, in Waco, TX. He worked in maintenance at the V.A. Hospital. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the US Army.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Pable and Marie Vargas, of NY.

He is survived by his wife, Anna Vargas; son, Ramon Vargas; daughters, Jessica Marie Thornton and Lucinda Espinosa. He is also survived by brother, Paul Vargas, sister, Lydia Sonabria; cousin, Charlie Carro; 8 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Jesse Maldonado, Ernest Romo, Richard Munoz, Rudy Morales, Mike Munoz, and David Nagy. Honorary pallbearers will be his best friend, Kevin Davis and Zayden Thornton.

Flowers and memorials made in Ramon's name are appreciated.
