Rachel Bundrant went to be with Our Lord on Thursday, July 24, 2025 in Gatesville, Texas. Rachel was born in Woodson, Texas on November 8, 1923, to James Edward and Charlotte Lee Melton. She was the 7th child out of 11 of her parents. Rachel was blessed with 101 years of life and a large family. In that life she loved spending time with her family. She married Webster Bundrant in May of 1940 they raised two children, Raymond and Paul Bundrant in Purmela, Texas. Rachel was an avid hunter and cherished time spent deer hunting beside her husband and sons, growing her garden, and working until her retirement at Hamilton Gatesville Sewing Factory.
One of her favorite events in her life was having her family come to her family home in Purmela to eat a meal filled with her garden vegetables and always to be followed by homemade ice cream. After retirement Rachel found enjoyment in quilting, creating many beautiful quilts. She also loved dancing at the local senior dances.
Rachel was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two sons. She is survived by her youngest brother, Ashby “Bill” Melton; 2 grandsons: Jessie Bundrant and Jimmy Bundrant; 2 granddaughters: Nikki Stidham (husband Dalton) and Rachel Bundrant; several great-grandchildren, many precious nephews and nieces whom she loved greatly.
She will be laid to rest next to her husband at the Evergreen-Bundrant Cemetery in Purmela, Texas as a later date to be announced. Services are under the direction of Pecan Grove Funeral Home in Waco, Texas.
