Norma Isabel Miller (Merritt) who loved to be called “Mom, may I have…” by her kids, departed her loving family on 02 October 2021.
Norma was born in (Los Angeles) on 13 November 1947 to Margaret I. Merritt (Mason) and Norman Kenith Merritt.
Norma was a mom to Harold K. Lewis (Ken), Michael A. Lewis (Mike, Robert D. Merritt (David), and Norman W. Merritt (Bill). She raised her children with love and devotion in California and Idaho and for the past 10 years she has resided with her partner Wilbur Loftus in Waco, Texas.
Norma was a glass cutter in her early years, PBX operator, and secretary for various companies and ran two different businesses within her lifetime. Her hobbies included owning a small farm with various animals for the family, being a 4-H leader while her kids were growing up, and gardening in her small and large gardens. Norma was most proud of raising her four boys that has given her 23 grand-children and 7 great-grand-children, with a couple more on the way. Norma has given so much for her children and grand-children, she has been the beacon of light that has held our family together for many years and she will keep our family strong long after she has been gone.
She is survived by her devoted and loving partner Wilbur Loftus, her children: Ken Lewis/Melissa Wife, Mike Lewis/ Amy Wife, David Merritt/ Raegan Wife and, Bill Merritt/ Fabiola Wife, Joe Marcekese (nephew) Stacey Marcekese (Joes Wife), Chrissy Swanson (niece) Aundre Swanson ( Chrissys Husband) and 19 Grandchildren: Daniel Elwell, Casandra Dekker, Louis Merritt, Cassandra Merritt, DiDi Jackson, Katrina Merritt, Kimberly Merritt, Norman Merritt, Jr., Jessica Savell, Jessie Lewis, Naomi Merritt, Gideon Merritt, Daniel Cameron, Tommy Merritt, Missy Merritt, Caleb Lewis, Nikolaus Lewis, Kenzie Whiting, Gunnar Komperud, Chrissy Lewis, Aimee Lewis and 5 Great Grandchildren: Aaliyah Farmer, Andrew Merritt, Oliver Merritt, Joseph Jackson, Cora Savell.
Memorial services will be held at Ken Lewis’s house Saturday June 18th 2022 in Robinson, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Waco Humane Society can be made in Norma’s name.
