Myra 'Denise' McKelroy

July 17, 1953 — July 27, 2025

Robinson

On Sunday, July 27th, Denise McKelroy of Robinson, Texas gained her wings. She was met with open arms as she reunited with many of her friends and family in Heaven. Her physical body was tired but she now lives forever in a place of pure joy and happiness.

No service was requested as her remaining close family and friends will rejoice and memorialize her life with a time of celebration on Saturday, September 6th (information listed below.)

After being set up on a blind date by a friend of theirs, Denise was married for more than fifty years to her only love, Tim, who was her dedicated caretaker for many years and stood by her side until the very end. Attending to her every need and comforting her along the way, Tim ensured her last days on Earth were full of love and gratitude. Many friends and family were able to visit with Denise before she departed this world, so she knew exactly how much she was loved.

Denise had a love of fishing, gambling, scratch-offs, and a general appreciation for the laid-back lifestyle. Her favorite place to be was the beach, always enjoying the sights that this world had to offer. She is reunited in Heaven with her best fishing and gambling buddies to live out the rest of eternity the way she enjoyed while on Earth. Her soul was one to be noted and we look forward to meeting her again one day.

She was born to Johnny and Anita Waters of Waco, Texas on Friday, July 17th, 1953. She attended Robinson High School as part of the graduating Class of 1972. She was elected to Homecoming Court while in high school and was known well all around the Robinson area. Denise had a long career in taxes and bookkeeping, known to many as “The Tax Lady.” She began her career with B&L Contracting before setting out on her own in the late 80’s. She developed and grew her own bookkeeping business, TDS Bookkeeping, aptly named after herself, her husband and her daughter. She not only handled small personal taxes but she also held many very large accounts and ensured everyone was always treated the same. Many of her accounts were in her possession for decades as she worked diligently until finally deciding to retire in 2024.

Denise was a die-hard sports fan. From playing basketball and volleyball in high school to never missing a Dallas Cowboys game and following the Lady Bears basketball until the very end.

Denise is preceded in death by her father, John E. Waters, her brother, John M. Waters, and her best friends, Libba Farley and Rozie Rogers. We are at peace knowing they are reunited and they may now continue their shenanigans just like they did when they were here.

She leaves behind her mother Anita Waters of Hewitt, husband Tim of Robinson (married fifty-three years), her one and only child Samantha, and her husband Shaun of Robinson, Brother-In-Law & Sister-In-Law Ricky and Linda Jupe of West, two amazing grandkids, Connor and Scarlet, and her nephew Michael Waters of Robinson. She also leaves behind their beloved dog Miss Alice, who is still running the McKelroy residence at the ripe old age of 17. Denise is survived by a host of other family and friends who will join alongside her family for the Celebration of Life on Saturday, September 6th, 2025 from 2 - 4 PM at First Baptist Church of Riesel in the Fellowship Hall (Address: 301 Edwards Street, Riesel, TX 76682.)
