Mary Lou Trice, 87 of Hewitt, Texas, passed away Monday, March 30, 2026. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 3 at Pecan Grove Funeral Home with Pastor Dennis Rejcek officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Rosemound Cemetery. There will be a visitation one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 a.m.
Mary Lou was born July 1, 1936 to Beatrice Salter and Charles Edward Trice in Waco, Texas. The Trice family relocated to Fredericksburg, Texas in 1945 where Mary Lou graduated high school in 1954. She then returned to Waco to complete a course in Medical Technology training at Jenkins and Barnes Clinic. In 1956, Mary Lou moved to San Diego, California where she worked for the Orbital Analysis group at General Dynamics. In 1974, Mary Lou earned a Bachelors degree from San Diego State University in California. When Mary Lou retired in 2000, she had been engaged in Software Systems Design at Computer Sciences Corporation in San Diego.
Mary Lou enjoyed many hobbies including genealogy, quilting, gardening and philately. As a member of the Heart of Texas Urban Garden Coalition, Mary Lou designed and helped to install drip irrigation systems for vegetable gardens in the area. She was a member of the Master Gardeners of McLennan County where she performed many hours of volunteer work. She delivered Meals-On-Wheels in the Bellmead area for over 10 years; volunteered with The Central Texas German Shepherd Rescue Society; and was a member of the Homespun Quilters Guild.
Mary Lou was preceded in death by her friend and companion, Fred Lisenbe; her brother, Charles Edward Trice, Jr.
Survivors include her daughter, Lori Jean Maxwell of Hemet, CA; her niece, Melanie Trice Roberts of Lynchburg, VA; nephew, Steven Trice of Blacksburg, VA; her grand nephew Jacob Roberts of Lynchburg, VA.
