Mary Louise Krause, 91, of Robinson, Texas passed away peacefully to be with her Lord on February 6, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Born on May 8, 1934 in Nell, Texas to James and Rosalie Kunde, Mary lived a life filled with compassion and unwavering dedication to her family and friends. She was baptized into Christ on July 8, 1934 in Pawnee, Texas.
Mary was known for her kind spirit and generosity. She grew up in south Texas and graduated as valedictorian from Pawnee High School in 1951 and Texas Lutheran College in 1955. Mary was united in holy matrimony to William Krause on June 1, 1957 in Pawnee, Texas. She was a longtime member of Christ Lutheran and then St. Matthew Lutheran Church. Mary was a devoted teacher for almost 40 years, mostly teaching high school math at Midway High School.
She was known as a disciplinarian at school. If she heard any noises in the hallway, she’d shut that down in a hurry. That’s why she was given an old sergeant’s jacket to wear. Outside of the classroom, Mary enjoyed square dancing, two stepping and polka music. She also quilted and loved playing games, particularly 42, bunko, and Sudoku. She loved watching all Texas A&M sports teams as well as the Dallas Cowboys and Mavericks. Mary also enjoyed feeding her hummingbirds, gardening, and helping on the ranch with the cattle. Summertime was filled with making jelly and pickling. She was also well known for her pecan pies and German rice.
Mary is survived by her husband of 68 years, William Krause; her children, Bill Krause, Jr. (Pat), Kirk Krause (Shari), and Kim Browne (Ross); her grandchildren, Bobby Krause, Cody Browne (Tabitha), Stacy Walton, and Shane Davis (Kasey); her great-grandchildren, Tyler, Breanna, and Brycen; and her sister, Dorthy Rippstein; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, James and Rosalie Kunde; her sister, Laura Burney; and brothers-in-law Vernon Giebel, Eugene Rippstein, Clifford Olson, and Bruce Burney.
A celebration of Mary’s life will be held on Monday, February 9, 2026 from 5 to 7 PM at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 Robinson Dr., Waco, Texas. Funeral service will be on Tuesday, February 10, 2026 at 10 AM at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 800 N. New Rd, Waco. The Reverend Austin Nickel will officiate. Burial service will follow at the New Ulm Cemetery at 3 PM.
