On Saturday, May 11, 2024 Lois LaDell Merritt went to be with her Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ. She was reunited with her youngest daughter, Shelley DeAnn, her oldest son, Boyd Daniel, her husband Daniel Osburn and a host of family and friends.
Lois was born to the proud parents of Hershel and Lucille Brock, who had 8 daughters in all.
Lois the 5th of her seven sisters were raised up in China Spring, TX and everyone knew them as the beautiful Brock girls.
Lois married Daniel Osburn Merritt (OZ) at age 16. At 19 their first child was born a boy, Boyd Daniel. Then another son, Marty Osburn. Then came a daughter, Lisa LaDell and their last child, Shelley DeAnn, another daughter.
Lois raised up their 4 children in Northcrest now called Lacy Lakeview, adjacent to Waco Texas, in a happy, stable and loving home. She was a housewife and stay at home mother. That's a very tough job and she did it well! She was a Proverbs 31 woman for sure.
Lois helped to care for her parents in their elderly years. She cared for her husband in his later years, and she cared for her youngest daughter for many years who suffered from juvenile diabetes and strokes.
Lois carried heavy grief for years after the passing of her husband and then two of her children within a week’s time. Suffering heartache that not many could survive. Lois would not have survived those dark devastating days without her faith and personal relationship with God her heavenly Father.
Lois' love and devotion to Jesus Christ and His Word, grew even more secure and strong throughout her life by God's grace.
Throughout her life during good times or tough times she continued to help, encourage and always be a listening ear and shoulder to cry on to those who needed her.
Lois loved her family, she loved God's family, she loved people, not things, she was an amazing woman and will absolutely be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Maybe one day we'll write a book about her life.
Lois leaves behind 2 children, 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 4 sisters and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her Mom and Dad, 3 sisters, husband and 2 children. She was greatly loved and will be greatly missed.
1 Peter 3:4: "You should be known for the beauty that comes from within, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is so precious to God."
