It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lemuel “Bill” Carpenter on February 15, 2016, surrounded by his loved ones at his home in Riesel, Texas. Funeral services will be 10 am, Monday, Feb. 22, at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 Robinson Dr., Waco, with Pastor Robby Kirby officiating. Interment will follow at New Hope Baptist Cemetery in Riesel. The family will receive visitors from 4 to 6 pm, Sunday, Feb. 21 at the funeral home.
Bill was born March 20, 1928 in Malakoff, Texas. He never knew a stranger and had the ability to make an impact on the life of anyone who had the pleasure to meet him. To his family he was Daddy, Paw, or Uncle Bill, and those that he leaves behind, have countless stories of how he contributed so much to the type of person they have and will become.
Bill was also lovingly called, “Cowboy Bill,” simply because that’s what he was; a true cowboy. After serving 2 years in the US Navy, he spent the next 60 years as a Cattle Rancher and Ranch Manager. He was a wealth of knowledge to his family and friends about ranching and he was happy to share all the things that he had learned in his lifetime.
Bill leaves behind his bride of 62 years, Evelyn Carpenter. Their marriage was a true testament to love and commitment, which most strive to emulate. Their faith provided the foundation for their longevity.
Bill's legacy will be remembered and passed on by, daughters, Susan Turner and Lana Schroeder (Tommy); son-in-law, Steve Smith (Mary); grandchildren, Stephanie Guerin, Blanton Smith (Tara), Tylene Gearheart (John), Terrica Beaton (Ron) and Kaitlin Smith; great-grandchildren, Carly Guerin, Haleigh, Brandon, Aiden and Natalie Gearheart, Naomi Beaton and Asher Smith; brother, Robert Carpenter; sister Dorothy; special niece, Lynn Kelly; special sister-in-law, Brenda Busby; special friend Linda Beaton; along with numerous nieces, nephews, loved ones and friends.

You taught us love, kindness, patience, dedication, strength and faith. You showed us how to live a devoted Christian life and love The Lord. For all of those things, we thank you.
We love you. Enjoy that Heavenly Ranch which has been prepared for you.
