Larry Clinton Jackson, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, departed this world on February 4, 2026, in Waco, Texas, at the age of 78. Born on June 22, 1947, in Fort Worth, Texas, Larry's journey through life was one of hard work, devotion to family, and a quiet strength that was felt by all who knew him.

A graduate of Kennedale High School, Larry dedicated an impressive 35 years to Kenworth in Fort Worth, where his work ethic and commitment to excellence did not go unnoticed. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps for three years at Camp Lejeune, N.C., earning the National Defense Service Medal. His love for his country was palpable, and he always carried with him a sense of pride that resonated throughout his life.

Larry was a man of few words, often quiet until inspired to share his thoughts. Those who experienced his calming presence knew that when he spoke, his words carried weight. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially in the cherished role of PawPaw to his grandchildren, Logan, Kennedy, and Kreece. The bond he shared with them was profound, and he delighted in creating special memories that will carry on through their lives.

In his younger years, Larry was a lively spirit. He had a playful relationship with his sister, Katie, often teasing her in good-hearted fun. Together, with Katie's husband, Tony, they played a significant role in creating a western town behind their house, an endeavor that intrigued tourists and captured the imagination of many. He also cherished memories of riding bulls and raising cattle on the family farm in Kennedale that shaped the man he became.

Larry’s interests were diverse; he was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan and meticulously collected memorabilia that reflected his unwavering support. His passion for antique picking took him on many adventures across the United States, where he reveled in finding unique treasures such as antique oil lamps, iron skillets, and sapphire blue vintage dishes. Among his prized possessions was an RCA Victor hanging clock from the Midland Opry House stage, which resonated with the echoes of performances by Elvis, Bill Monroe, and others. He also took pride in owning an RCA Victrola Phonograph, including the wooden crate it came in. Larry spent hours piddling in his workshop painting, woodworking and fixing things. When time allowed, he also loved to go fishing.

He leaves behind his loving wife, Shirley Gail Jackson, who was his partner and sidekick throughout their years together. He is survived by daughter, Terri (Shepherd) Castro and her husband, Frank, of Oglesby; son, Tony Shepherd and wife, Kelly, of Round Rock; grandchildren, Logan, Kennedy, and Kreece; sisters, Katie Knox, of Sherman, Elaine Hood and husband, Bill, of Whitehouse; brother-in-law, Billy Argabright and partner, Tamara Maxwell; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Larry is preceded in death by his mother, Doris (Akins) Evans; stepfather, Douglas Evans, Sr.; brother, Douglas Evans, Jr.; father, George C. Jackson; brother, Gary G. Jackson; brother-in-law, Tony Knox.

As friends and family gather to honor his remarkable life and legacy, a memorial service will be held at Pecan Grove Funeral Home in Waco, Texas, on February 28, 2026, starting at 2:00 PM, followed by a private interment at Post Oak Cemetery in Oglesby. The memories he created, the love he shared, and the laughter he instigated will forever resonate in the hearts of those he touched. Larry Clinton Jackson will be missed dearly, but his spirit will continue to live on through the lives he inspired.
