Kenneth Ray Leuschner, 85, of Robinson, Texas went to be with his Lord Jesus Christ on April 28, 2026.
A graveside service will be held at Robinson Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. on May 11, 2026.
Kenneth was born on September 28,1940 in Waco, Texas to Oswald and Rosie Leuschner at Hillcrest Hospital. He was raised on a farm near Waco with his late brother Weldon Leuschner. He was confirmed on March 29, 1953 at St. John United Church of Christ. Kenneth graduated from Midway High School in 1958. He graduated from Waco Barber College in 1961.
He began working at Southgate Barber Shop from 1961-1966. While working at Southgate with his future brother-in-law (Bobby Richter), Joy Verone Richter came in to use the phone. Kenneth noticed her and finally got up the nerve to ask her out. After a year of dating, they were married on October 12, 1963 at St John Lutheran Church in Coryell City. Together, they bought a house in Robinson, Texas and lived there over 60 years. In April 1965, they became members of St. John United Church of Christ where they remained active members throughout their lives.
Kenneth ventured out on his own and opened up Robinson Drive Barber Shop, later renamed Kenneth’s Barber Shop in 1966. Every Saturday while his sons were young, one of his three boys would ride their bike down Highway 77 to sweep up hair and mop the floor. But the boys did not mind because they were given a dollar to walk to Dairy Queen to get an ice cream. Kenneth retired from barbering after 47 years in August of 2008.
Kenneth was committed to his church and community. He served as a youth leader at St John United Church of Christ for more than 12 years, was a Sunday school teacher for over 15 years, and served on the church council. He also volunteered as cub scout master and was a little league baseball coach for many years for his three boys.
Kenneth and Joy enjoyed hanging out with their friend group named “Jest Friends”, taking trips, playing games, eating, and enjoying plenty of laughter.
Kenneth was preceded by his wife Joy Verone Leuschner on July 13, 2025. He is survived by his three sons: Greg Leuschner of Forney; Jeff Leuschner and his wife Stephanie of Wylie; and Brad Leuschner and his wife Tammie of Brenham. Kenneth was a proud grandfather to seven grandchildren: Cody (wife Charis), Brittney, McKenzie (husband Connor), Landon (wife Abby), Logan, Austin (wife Emily) and Zachary. He was also blessed with three great grandchildren Daisy Lynne, Bentley Xavier, and Elaine Joy.
Kenneth’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in Kenneth Leuschner’s name to St. John United Church of Christ in Robinson.
