Kathryn Elaine Rye, known lovingly to all as Elaine, passed away peacefully on May 8, 2026, at the age of 82. She was born on December 26,1943, in Waco, Texas, and lived a life defined by love, simplicity, and devotion to her family.
A simple, devoted, and deeply loving mother, grandmother, and great‑grandmother, her sons and their families were truly the center of her world, and she lived each day with them in her heart.
She was known for her giving spirit and generous heart, earning the nickname “Granny Money” — always ready to help, always ready to love. Her kindness touched everyone who knew her. She found joy in life’s simple pleasures, especially her daily ritual of watching The Price Is Right, a show she never missed and always enjoyed.
Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, Wilford Wiley "WW" and Ruby Leona Hinds, her brother Kenneth Hinds and his wife Ruby, her brother‑in‑law Kenneth “Hondo” Johnson, and great‑grandson Elliot Garcia.
She is survived by her sons Willie Craig, Jr. and wife Tammi, Ronnie Craig, Sr. and wife Stella, and Donald Craig and wife Tuesday.
She leaves behind her beloved grandchildren: Christopher Craig and husband Christian, Ronnie Craig, Jr. and wife Alesha, Katelyn Craig, Heather Garcia and husband Harley, Sidney Honea, and Taylor Honea.
She is also survived by her sister, Susie Johnson, along with six great‑grandchildren and many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.
A special companion, her loyal dog Gray, was her protector, her shadow, and her constant friend.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank‑you to Linda Dawson, her devoted friend and caretaker, whose love, support, and constant presence brought comfort and dignity to Elaine’s final years. Linda’s kindness will always be remembered with deep gratitude.
Elaine leaves behind a legacy of love, generosity, and unwavering devotion to family. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all who were blessed to be part of her life.
