It is with great sorrow that the family announces the passing of Joe Dobias on September 8, 2025, after living a fulfilling life as a husband, father and friend. Joe passed peacefully surrounded in the comfort of his family.
Joe was born in Elk, Texas on April 6, 1931, to parents Frank and Albina Dobias. He graduated from University High School, Waco, Texas in 1950 and joined the U.S. Army shortly thereafter. After serving his country in the Army, Joe married the love of his life, Patricia Braden, in 1954. He worked for the Texas Highway Department and retired after 33 years of faithful service.
Joe was preceded in death by his loving wife Patricia, his parents, two brothers and three sisters.
He is survived by one brother, three sisters and his children, Gary Dobias (Ramona), Gilda Layne (Paul), Gay Ortega and Gwen Gibson (Greg), nine grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Joe was a devoted member of Trinity Heights Nazarene Church in Waco where he served as an usher, greeter, and Sunday school bus driver. He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying fishing and hunting.
Joe was a beloved soul who touched everyone he met. He had an infectious laugh, unwavering kindness, and the ability to make everyone feel at home. Our beloved dad and papa will be missed by all.
