Jerry Hyde

January 17, 1945 — February 1, 2024

The legacy of Jerry Don Hyde lives on despite his departure from this earth on February 1, 2024, at the age of 79. Visitation services will be from 12:30 to 1:30 pm Saturday, February 10, 2024. A Celebration of Life will follow at 2:00 pm Saturday, February 10, 2024, both will be at Pecan Grove Funeral Home.
Jerry Don was born on January 17, 1945, in Waco, Texas, to James L. Hyde and Molly Bell Hyde. He was the fifth child born to his parents with three more sisters to follow. In his early years he watched and admired his mother, Molly Bell. Her devotion to family and love of others inspired him to be the man admired today. Jerry Don began his work career as a shoe salesman. He would later become the buyer of women shoes for Cinderella’s, in Waco. Jerry Don would eventually trade in his shoehorn for a plunger as he joined his older brothers in the plumbing profession. Once he became a Master Plumber, he owned and operated Jerry’s Plumbing for over 40 years. In April 2001, he married the love of his life Shirley Jean Hyde. Together they built a life, friendship, and love, that inspired many.
Jerry Don had an enormous passion for reading. He credited this passion to his 1st grade teacher Mrs. Reisinger. After retiring, he set out on a journey to write a book. He worked tirelessly on the book for years. He would complete this journey and become an Author with the publication of his book, “Was She Crying For Me?” in September of 2022.
Jerry Don is preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Jean, both his parents, son Charles Jason Tate, grandson Mason Alexander Price, brother Wayne Hyde, and sisters Molly Jean, Ginger Ann, and Martha Kay.
Survivors include his children, son Sean Tate and wife Heidi; daughter Tammy Pavelka and husband Randy; son Jerry Don Hyde Jr and wife Stacey; daughter Lisa Moore and husband Jessie; brother Jimmy Hyde, sister Mary Nathanson and husband Robert, sister Becky Cox and husband Mike; 25 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and countless nieces, nephews, and friends he loved dearly.
Jerry Don had a saying he used often, “Even when I lose, I win”. We are certain his saying never played out more clearly than on February 1, 2024, when he lost his earthly body, but won entry to the Almighty’s Kingdom.
Honorary pallbearers will be his grandsons.
