Jeanette Markum

Jeanette Gonce Markum, 78, of Robinson, passed away surrounded by her family on Tuesday, September 22, 2015, in Waco. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 25, at Meadowbrook Baptist Church, 1207 N. Old Robinson Rd, Waco, with Pastors Cary Killough and David Cozart officiating. Interment will follow at Waco Memorial Park. The family will receive visitors 5 – 7:00 p.m., Thursday, September 24, at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 Robinson Drive, Waco.

Jeanette was born at home in West, TX, on February 27, 1937, to Callie and Milford Gonce. On April 25, 1958, she married Don Markum, and this year, they celebrated 57 wonderful years together. Jeanette was a longtime member of Meadowbrook Baptist Church, actively serving in Homebound Ministries. She was fond of reading books and was a big fan of Texas Ranger baseball; but her greatest joy was her only grandchild, Harper Houghlin.

Jeanette is survived by her husband Don Markum; her daughter Dena Markum Houghlin and husband Jeff; son Douglas Markum; granddaughter Harper Houghlin; sisters Joyce Eastwood, and Gwen Mashek; and brothers Wilburn Gonce and Billy Gonce.
