James Andrew Degrate 39 of Hewitt, Texas passed away on October 9, 2024. Andy was born on June 30th, 1985, to Melanie Lowrance and Reginal Degrate in Waco, Texas.
Andy attended Waco High School and took a few classes at McLennan community College.
He is survived by his sons, James Degrate, age 17 (Mother - Stashia Booker) and Amadeus Parker, age 6 (Mother - Sara Parker). He is also survived by his mom, Melanie Lowrance, and his father Reginal Degrate, his brother, Taron Lowrance, his grandmother Mary Etta Degrate, several aunts, uncles and cousins, and one special cousin Niko Lowrance (Tye Thompson).
Andy had a heart of gold and was loved by many. He loved football, especially the Dallas cowboys and the Texas longhorns. He was well known for his big personality, his clever sense of humor, his beautiful bright smile, and the way he picked on his loved ones. He had a passion for his music, his friends, family and his two sons. Everyone enjoyed his cooking, especially his thanksgiving dressing, his hamburgers, and everything else he made from scratch. Andy loved all animals and always took his time to help dogs and look out for them. He gave the best advice, always knew the right thing to say, and provided comfort and safe space for everyone he loved.
He joins in heaven his grandparents Mama Todie and Daddy Jim, his aunt Melba Sue, his uncle Michael, and his best friend Chris.
Andy will live on through the many, many great memories his family and friends have of him and will continue to be missed and loved forever.
A memorial will be held at Line Street Methodist Church, 300 Line Street, Hillsboro, Texas on Sunday, November 3rd, 2024 at 3:00 pm.
