Jackie Lanor Padgett

September 22, 1939 — September 1, 2025

Jackie Lanor Padgett (Shannon) of Waco, Texas passed away peacefully at the age of 85 years at Baylor Scott and White Hospital on September 1, 2025. She was surrounded by close loved one’s holding her and filling her up with love as she entered into the arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ, a place she always dreamed of and longed for.

She was saved by grace in her mid 20’s and began to teach Sunday School and Children’s Church. Ms. Jackie was a beautiful soul, known for her teaching spirit and heart full of grace and compassion. Jackie had a huge impact on countless lives through her ability to see and reach everyone through the lenses of Jesus, her Savior. She made a constant reminder to every person she met that “Father God’s arms were never too short to reach them” and that “we all fall short” Rom. 3:23. She not only preached the gospel to everyone with such an ease and grace, but she also followed and lived it by carrying her own cross daily. She is remembered and known for being a saint to this world, helping anyone in need and being a friend to the lonely, unseen and unknown, making each person feel like they were the most special person alive.

Jackie spent her days reading God’s word and never doubting any of it. She lived her life with a servant heart to her family and everyone. She reminded us to “keep looking up” Psalms 121:1 and could be heard saying “God love it,” singing worship songs, and going into conversations with Jesus in front of everyone because she knew He was in the room with her. She leaves no doubt that she was fully embraced in the arms of Jesus and crowned with many jewels in her departure of this temporary home. Her life was lived as a prayer warrior, full of child-like faith that every prayer she prayed was heard and answered.

Born in Brownwood, Texas on September 22, 1939 to Henry and Dorothy Shannon; she was the youngest of four girls. Jackie graduated from Odessa High School in 1957. She married James Padgett April 21, 1962 and together they lovingly raised their two children, Tony Ray Padgett and Cynthia Dee Padgett.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Padgett; her parents, Henry and Dorothy Shannon; her sisters, Pat Joyce and Ann Bethke; and her brothers-in-law, Roger (Butch) Bethke and Denny Ray Padgett.

Jackie is survived by her sister, Byrl Gaden and her husband Dick; her son, Tony Ray Padgett and his wife Alice; daughter Cynthia Dee Padgett and fiancé Tim Psencik. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jessica Louise Reynolds, Jacquelin Nicole Gallegos and husband Rick, Haylie Jenice Padgett, Blake Miller Knox, Michael Hunter Knox, and Reaghan Suzanne Hoffman. She was blessed with and survived by eight great-grandchildren. Jackie is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Rita Padgett and Darlene Mattlage and husband Elliott, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
