Robinson

Harvie Junior Hensley walked into the open loving arms of our Lord and Savior, Saturday, June 06, 2026, at the age of 80. At Harvie’s request, he will be cremated. A celebration of his life with Military Honors will be held, Friday, June 26, 2026, 11:00 a.m. at the American Legion Post 121 in Elm Mott with Bro. Reggie Blake and Bro. Marv Whittenburg officiating.

Harvie was born January 1, 1946, to John Harvie Hensley and Rebecca Lois Griffin in Rosenthal, Tx. He married Judy Karlene Bayer on July 14, 1972, and instantly became a dad to Judy’s two daughters, Rene’ Michele Berry Perkins and Melanie Ann Berry Peterson. Then Harvie David (H.D.) Hensley came along and his family was complete.

Harvie was the youngest of three children growing up and lived most of his life in Rosenthal and then Robinson. He attended Lorena High School. He then joined the Army and was stationed in Ft. Sill, Oklahoma. After finishing his enlistment, he began working for General Tire until the plant went through a lay-off. He began working with George Brooks cutting and bailing hay for years until he began working for Olan Mills for 19 years before the plant closed. He began working for M. Lipsitz and worked for 15 years before retiring in 2013. He then went back to farming on the family farm in Rosenthal until 2020. He enjoyed watching John Wayne movies & western movies, his soap opera, The Bold & The Beautiful and The Grand Old Opry. Rene’ often referred to him as the Stefka Street greeter as he would often be seen sitting in his wheelchair on his front porch waving at everyone including the school buses every day.

Harvie was proud of his family and became Daddy Hensley to several adopted kids that were friends of his children. His proudest moments were when he became a great grandpa to Fenton & RayRay. He was also grandpa to the fur babies, Rex, Angel, Leo and most importantly Midknight. He could not move without Midknight being at his side.

He reaffirmed his faith in Christ in 2002 and was a member of the Beacon Hill Baptist Church. He proudly served as an usher and greeted church members and newcomers as they came into the church to worship our Lord & Savior.

Harvie is preceded in death by his parents, John & Lois Hensley, wife Judy, brother & sister-in-law Dewey & Mary Lou Slaughter, sister Louise Alquinson, son-in-law Billy Don Miller, granddaughter Haley Lynn Peterson.

He is survived by daughters, Rene’ Perkins of Robinson, Melanie Peterson of Temple and son H.D. Hensley of Robinson. His ‘adopted’ kids whom he loved and treated as if they were his own, Michelle Chinn of Waco, Theresa Dillon and husband Matt of Robinson, Tami Russell and husband Patrick of Henrietta, Robert ‘BJ’ Bardin and wife Roberta of Temple, Jon Krupa and wife Becky of China Spring. Grandchildren Amelia Peterson Booth and husband Eli of Corpus Christi and John Peterson and fiancée Ashlynn Hall of Waco,
