With profound sadness, the family of Gloria Rodriguez announces her passing at the age of 66 on September 22. Born in Adrian, Michigan, with meaningful stops in Ohio, Texas, and New Mexico, Gloria was a devoted mother, sister, and beloved spouse. She left this world surrounded by love and leaves behind a legacy of compassion, resilience, and family devotion.
Born on March 6, 1959, Gloria dedicated her life to raising her family and creating a home filled with warmth, laughter, and unconditional support. She was the loving widow of Sam Rodriguez and, in recent years, found joy and companionship with Tony Guerra of Waco, who brought comfort to her life.
Gloria is survived by her eight beloved children: Jimmy Rodriguez of Dallas; Nick and his wife Kristen Rodriguez of Arizona; Rene and his husband Jarrett Rodriguez of Virginia; Lilyana, Katalyna, Amelia, Roman, Adam & Crystal. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Sebastian and Austin from Dallas as well as Alexis and Ethan from Arizona, all of whom brought her immense joy.
She is preceded in death by her parents Celia and Albert Cardenas; her brothers Albert and Joey Cardenas; and her brother-in-law Joe Hernandez of Coahoma.
In addition to her children and grandchildren, Gloria's spirit lives on through her brother, Rudy and his wife Lisa Cardenas of Saline, Michigan, her two sisters, Helen Hernandez of Coahoma, Eliesa Cardenas of Waco, Texas and sister-in-laws Vita Cardenas of Adrian, Michigan and Shelly Cardenas of Deer Park, Michigan. Her circle of lifelong friends and numerous cousins—who she viewed as siblings—infused her life with happiness and belonging.
Gloria will be remembered for her boundless generosity, quick wit, her love of purses—especially cheetah print—and the way she made everyone feel like family. She touched countless lives with her kindness and steadfast love. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank-you to Eloisa Rangel & Family, Aunt Hope, Eliesa Cardenas, and Helen Hernandez. With much love and gratitude, the Rodriguez family also thanks Pastor John & Sherri Rambeau and their congregation for their generosity over the years, as well as FNP Rachel Scullins and the incredible staff of the McArthur Clinic for their compassionate care.
A celebration of her life will be held on October 1 at Pecan Grove in Robinson, Texas beginning at 1pm, where family and friends are invited to gather and share memories.
