Duane Leo Wiederien, 78, passed away on April 4, 2026, at his residence in Bruceville, TX. He was born in Carroll, Iowa to Elmer Joseph Wiederien and Catherine Mary Wadle Wiederien on August 5, 1947. He married Amalia Molly Wiederien on August 15, 1968.
He was a veteran in the United States Army and served during the Vietnam War.
Duane was preceded in death by his wife, Molly. He was also preceded in death by his sons, Ricky James Wiederien and Robert Joseph Wiederien.
Survivors include his daughters, Deri Ann and her husband, Larry Adair of Palacios, TX, Melanie and her husband, Daniel Lopez, currently stationed in Italy and Tina Wiederien and her significant other, Matt Williams of Austin, TX; one granddaughter Sara Warren, two grandsons Ramon Lopez currently stationed in Italy, and Raul Lopez of College Station, TX; four great grandchildren and numerous friends. Duane is also survived by his siblings; sister Joann Bauer, brother Jim Wiederien and his wife, Beth, brother Daryl Wiederien and his wife Doris, brother Dennis Wiederien, brother Alan Wiederien and sister Marla Meister, along with several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, from Iowa.
Duane and Molly together adopted their three daughters. In addition to their daughters, they also assisted in the raising of 83 foster children over a period of 20 years. One foster child, Sara, over time adopted Duane and Molly as her grandparents. Duane was a good-hearted man with a strong faith in God. There is not anything that he would not do for others, particularly family and friends. The work ethic he developed, growing up on a farm, carried him through every other task he endeavored. His legacy lives on through the many lives he touched.
Graveside service will be held at Waco Memorial Park on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow.
