Dorothy Mae Campbell, 82, of Waco, TX, passed away April 19, 2025. A Celebration of Life will be from 6-8:00 p.m., Thursday, April 24, at Pecan Grove Funeral Home.
Dorothy was born March 27, 1943, to Robert and Mabel (Cook) Green, in Waynesville, NC. She moved to Waco as a young child. Dorothy graduated from University High School in 1961. She enjoyed working at Southwestern Bell, retiring after many years. She also worked at Hillcrest Hospital as a dietary nutritionist for over 10 years. After Hillcrest, she was a caretaker for her best friend, Booter. She loved traveling with her friends and family, especially going on cruises. Dorothy had a green thumb. One of her biggest loves was Elvis. Any time she and her family were near Memphis, they had to go to Graceland. Her favorite role was Meme. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren very much. She gave each one of them their own nickname that was just right for them.
She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Green; mother, Mabel (Cook) Crow; stepfather, Jimmy Crow; previous husband, D.C. Campbell; previous husband and father of her children, William Gaskamp; and her cousin from North Carolina, Reba.
She is survived by her children, Kimberly Gaskamp, and David Gaskamp; her grandchildren, Tamara Moore, Crystal Moore, and Preston Gaskamp; great-grandchildren, Leah Murray and husband Jacob, Victoria Hardy, Christian Young, Grace Hardy, Colton Young, Camryn Hardy and William “Andy” Hardy; her relatives in North Carolina; best friends, Faye (Booter) Massey and Linda Jacobs; her many dogs and her turtle, Pearl.
