Doris Edna Reneau, 88, of Lorena, Texas, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 7, 2026, after a brief illness. Funeral services will be at 10am Wednesday, August 12 at Pecan Grove Funeral Home with Pastor Heath Kirkwood officiating. There will be a visitation from 5-7pm Tuesday, August 11 at the funeral home.
Doris was born on April 20, 1938, on a farm in Falls County, Texas, to Otto and Elsie Moehlmann, where she spent most of her childhood. She married Charley D. Reneau on November 21, 1953 and spent 53 wonderful years together until Charley’s death in 2007.
Doris began her career as surgical tech at Torbett Hutchings hospital in Marlin, Texas, before moving to Waco, where she began an over 35-year career in surgery at Providence Hospital. She cared for every patient as if they were family and cherished the many friendships she made over the years.
But Doris’s real career was caring for her large family. She was an amazing mother and granny. She raised six children in a home where everyone was welcomed with a “hi baby”, and no one left hungry. She created a home where everyone felt welcomed, safe and deeply loved; her love had no bounds.
She enjoyed her garden, canning all she could, and her chickens. She was always willing to share the fruits of the labor from the garden and the chicken coop. Most of all, she enjoyed back porch company where simply spending time with those she loved was her greatest joy.
She was preceded in death by two children, Donald Reneau (Debi) and Joyce Black (Robert), daughter-in-law Holly Reneau, her husband, parents, and siblings – Ed Moehlmann, Martha Moehlmann, and Jimmy Moehlmann.
She is survived by her children Mark Reneau of Waco, Brad Reneau of Lorena, Darrell Reneau of Sherman and Sandra Sims (Steve) of Lorena. Ten grandchildren: Brittany Builes (Alex), Danielle Reneau, Crystal Reneau (Jeff), Justin Reneau (Lindsey), Rebecca McPherson (Josh), Curtis Reneau (Courtney), Tamera Jefferson (TJ), Kevin Black (Logan), Cole Sims (Hannah), and Erin Thomas (Tyler). Her 21 great-grandchildren, Lorenzo and Julian Builes, Jake Robinson, Lacy Mannin, Lucas and Alice Reneau, Emberlee and Winry McPherson, Tanner, Harper and Paisley Reneau, KJ, Jase, Emma and Tessa Black, Phara Jefferson, Carter, Cooper and Elizabeth Sims, and Kennedy and Brooke Thomas.
Mom (Granny) will be deeply missed for her gentle spirit, endless patience, steady presence, and love for all who knew her. She was a Christian and accepted Jesus as her Savior as a teenager, and her faith never wavered. Her love will live on in the joyful noise of family gathered together - a lasting legacy carried on in the beautiful family she so lovingly built.
