Debora Sue “Debbie” Bell Looney, age 70, of Waco, Texas, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 20, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center, surrounded by the love of her family and close friends. Her passing leaves a space in the hearts of many, but her legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering devotion will live on for generations.

Debbie was born on October 9, 1955, in Waco, Texas, to Herman Thomas Bell, Sr. and Jimmie Dean Bell. A lifelong resident of Speegleville, she carried deep pride in her roots and the community that shaped her. She graduated from Richfield High School in 1974, forming friendships that would last throughout her life and becoming known for her kind spirit and quiet sense of humor even at a youthful age.

On May 23, 1975, Debbie married the love of her life, Alvin Frank Looney. Their marriage was built on love, loyalty, and shared life experiences, creating a foundation that carried them through life’s joys and challenges. Together, they welcomed their son, Travis Ryan Looney, whom Debbie loved deeply and supported wholeheartedly with an unwavering spirit. Debbie and Alvin shared many cherished years until his passing on June 9, 2003-a loss she carried with strength and grace, while continuing to pour love into her family.

Debbie was a woman deeply rooted in family, friends, and hard work. She worked alongside her family at Treasure City Flea Market and at Herman T. Bell Insurance Agency, where she was known for her dedication and her genuine ability to connect with people. Her flea market booth was more than just a place of business. It was a gathering place filled with conversation, laughter, and friendship. Debbie had a natural gift for making people feel welcome, often turning customers into lifelong friends. She took pride in her work and found joy in the simple interactions that made each day meaningful.

Her greatest joy in life was her role as “Gran Dee” to her beloved grandson, Judge Ryan Looney. That title was one she wore with pride and love. She cherished every moment spent with him. Whether it was sharing stories, laughter, or simply being present in his life. Debbie held a special place in her heart for her nieces and nephews, treating them as her own and creating lasting memories filled with love, humor, and support.

Debbie had a love for life that extended beyond her family. She enjoyed playing poker and Bunco with friends and family, where her laughter and playful spirit shined. She loved to travel and especially enjoyed going on cruises, embracing the opportunity to explore, relax, and create unforgettable experiences. No matter where she went, Debbie brought warmth and joy with her.

Those who knew Debbie will always remember her unique and understated sense of humor. She had a remarkable ability to deliver a perfectly timed, unexpected comment with a straight face, followed by a subtle, knowing, and loving smile that made those around her feel like they were part of a special moment. Her humor was gentle yet sharp, and it left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to experience it.

Debbie will be remembered for her compassion, loyalty, and generosity. She was the kind of person who showed up for others-quietly, consistently, and without expectation. Whether it was offering support, sharing her time, or simply listening, Debbie gave from the heart. Her friendships were deep and meaningful, and her love for those close to her was unwavering.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Frank Looney; her parents, Herman Thomas Bell, Sr., and Jimmie Dean Bell; and other loved ones who welcomed her with open arms.

Debbie is survived by her son, Travis Ryan Looney, and her cherished grandson, Judge Ryan Looney, her brother, Herman Bell, Jr. and wife Kathy of Speegleville; her sister, Anna Holt of Waco; her beloved “bestie”, Marie “Bunny” Cleverley; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and many dear friends whose lives were touched by her kindness and love.

Debbie shared a special bond with her beloved little pup, Lilly-a loyal companion who brought her endless comfort, joy, and gentle companionship. Lilly was never far from Debbie’s side, offering quiet moments of love that spoke louder than words. Whether it was a soft cuddle, a wagging tail, or simply resting close by, Lilly was a constant reminder of the warmth Debbie carried in her heart. Their connection was one of pure, unconditional love-a precious memory that will forever remain a tender part of Debbie’s story.

Pallbearers will be Donald Holt, Jr., Herman T. Bell, III, Brandon Reinke, Jason Hoffmeyer, Kyle Looney, Brett Cleverley, and Kevin Holt.
