Darrell L. Lyons, of Waco, Texas

August 26, 1934 – September 13, 2025

Darrell L. Lyons passed away peacefully at the age of 91.

Born on August 26, 1934, in Mount Calm, Texas, Darrell was raised by his mother, Levera Looney Childs, and stepfather, Roy Childs. He attended schools in Mart, Texas, and graduated from Waco Tech in 1953. He served honorably in the United States Army and later attended Baylor University.

Darrell dedicated 38 years to the Waco Fire Department serving as lieutenant. Outside the firehouse, Darrell was known as a skilled auto mechanic and loved working on cars, always ready to lend a hand or offer advice.

Darrell was preceded in death by his mother, stepfather, and siblings Charles Childs, Richard Childs, Faye (Childs) Robinson, Linda (Childs)Walls, Buddy Childs, and Mildred (Childs) Teas.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Lina Lyons; children: Darrell Lyons Jr. (Audrey), daughter Diana Lyons Waggoner (Mark), and Joe Felan (Pam); and grandchildren Blake Waggoner, Blaine Waggoner, Nate Felan, Michal Felan, and Isabelle Felan-Russell. He is also survived by siblings Carolyn (Childs)Alexander, and Larry Childs, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

A remembrance service with visitation will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2025, from 4:00-6:00 pm at Pecan Grove Funeral Home in Waco, Tx.
