On Saturday, July 11, 2026, one of God’s angels on earth was called home to join those who went before her. Bettye Sue Ferguson didn’t just believe in Jesus, she believed in family, and friends. Beloved by all, her good friends called her “Sweet Sue”, her kids called her Mama. The grandkids called her G-Mommie. Great-grands—Grandmommie.
Bettye Sue Ferguson was born April 4, 1940, in Antlers, Oklahoma to Evelyn and Sidell Whited. Sue grew up in Austin and graduated from McCallum High School, marrying the love of her life, Jack Clint Ferguson, on July 5, 1958. They shared fifty-six amazing years, three children, five grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren.
Sue enjoyed many careers from the Texas Poultry Federation to Barnes/Connally Investments, Appraisal Associates of Austin, Brooks, Gordon & Richards, Inc. and others, serving from Admin. Asst. and Office Manager to Vice President. Her favorite memory was serving Lady Bird Johnson her famous chicken salad sandwiches whenever she visited the office.
Sue and Jack lived an incredible life in Austin before moving to Robinson, Texas, where they joined Meadowbrook Baptist Church and lived out their lives together until his untimely death on October 3, 2014. She is preceded in death by her parents, her son, Rusty, her brothers, Billy Don, Jimmy Whited and his wife Joyce, and great-grandson Jonathon.
She is survived by her son Bryan and wife, Margaret; her daughter, Debbie, and partner, Steve Duncan; grandchildren, Joseph and partner Stephanie; Jason Lore and wife Chase; Keith and wife Julie; Brittany Adair, and Ethan Adair and his wife Megan. She will be greatly missed by her great-grandchildren: Colton, Benjamin, Abigail, Brynlee, Jaxson, Lillian, Tobias, Ryder, and Reygan, plus numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Meadowbrook Baptist Church for the University High School Student Ministry.
