Betty Joyce Fleischhauer, age 76 of Riesel, passed away peacefully on January 25, 2021 at Groesbeck LTC She was listening to her brother, Roy’s CD, playing his blue grass music. Betty was born December 9, 1944 in McLennan County to John Allen Bennett and Sarah Emmaline (York) Bennett. She attended Riesel Elementary schools before moving to Marlin where she graduated from Marlin High School in 1963. Betty married the love of her life, Raymond E. Fleischhauer on June 28th 1963 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Riesel. She was blessed with two daughters that adored her, Daphne and Leah. Betty was a loving and caring grandmother known as “Granny” to her four grandchildren, Holly, Elizabeth, Timothy, Alan and her great-granddaughter Ailyn. She would have loved to meet her new great-grandson, Connor.

Betty became a stay-a-home mom shortly after Daphne was born. While Daphne and Leah were young, Betty began an in-home day care in which many children and their families became part of her family. In June 1990, she retired from full time day care to take care of her two grandchildren at the time and was a constant presence and a blessing in all their lives. Later, she worked part-time at Trinity Lutheran ECLC where she was lovingly called Ms. Betty.

She loved sewing, cooking, gardening and had the most amazing flower beds. She made many of Daphne and Leah’s clothes and sewed dresses for them even into their adulthood. She continued to sew for all her grandkids and even made clothes for those precious children she kept. Betty often made personalized baby blankets and matching diaper bags for the new moms, also making matching diaper bags and blankets for the newborns big sister’s baby dolls.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents John A. and Sarah Bennett; her brothers John Allen Bennett Jr, Willie (Bill) Bennett, M.L. (Pug) Bennett, Roy Bennett, Don Bennett and a still-born infant brother, Roger; her sisters Beatrice Bennett Black, Lola Bennett Brunson and Ruby Bennett Honaker and numerous nieces and nephews.

Betty is survived by her loving husband Raymond Fleischhauer; her daughters Daphne Hoeft and husband Greg and Leah Outlaw; four grandchildren and their spouses; two great-grandchildren; brother Dan David Bennett; sisters Arlena Bennett Mullins, Helen Bennett Taylor and numerous nieces and nephews.

Betty went to be with the Lord and Savior she loved. Alzheimer’s can steal so much from the patient and the family, but it could never steal her faith in God…the very same faith she instilled in her children and grandchildren.
