Bettie Jean Reaves, 95, of Waco, Texas, passed away peacefully on February 24, 2026, just days after celebrating her birthday.
Bettie was born to Sherman and Edith (Mackie) Mills in Waco, Texas. She grew up in South Waco near the 15th Street area and later moved to Rosenthal, Texas, where she attended school before graduating from Waco High School. Bettie was a long-time member of Hewitt First Baptist Church. In 1950, Bettie married Arno Frosch, and together they welcomed two children, David and Sherrie. In 1961, she met and married Virgil “Bobby” Reaves, gaining two more children, Patsy and Mike. Bettie cherished her role as a mother and grandmother, and her family was the center of her life. She had a deep love for gardening and music. Bettie was dedicated and hardworking. She worked for the Waco Stockyards and later retired from Waco Bone & Joint Clinic after many years of faithful service.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Bobby Reaves; her brother, Nolan Mills; her daughter, Patsy Shaw; and her grandson, Joshua Ray Reaves.
Bettie is survived by her children, David A. Frosch (Mary), Mike Reaves (Suzzane), Sherrie Brumbelow, and sister-in-law Cindy Mills. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: David C. Frosch, Ashley Edens (Clint), Lindsey Cockrell (Brian), Cody Flowers (Melody), Aleisha, Stephen, and Troy Shaw, and eleven great-grandchildren who brought her immense pride and joy. She is also survived by a very special friend, Fred Lillard.
Serving as pallbearers will be David C. Frosch, Steve Thompson, Bill Brunson, Tom Tacker, Ted Mackie, and Bob Mackie; and honorary pall bearers: Cody, Brenden, Jayce, and Victden Flowers.
Visitation will be held from 6-8:00 p.m. Thursday, February 26, 2026 at Pecan Grove Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted by the Reverend Roy Marshall and will take place at 10 a.m. Friday, February 27, 2026, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Robinson Food Pantry (www.robinsonfoodpantry.org) in Bettie’s memory.
