Barbara Jean Gaines

Barbara Jean "BJ" (Kreft) Gaines, 80, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, Oct. 18, 2025 surrounded by her loving family.

Barbara's faith in Jesus Christ was steadfast and central to her life. She lived each day guided by that faith and sharing her love for the Lord with family and friends alike. Her faith in the Lord never wavered, even in difficult times, and it radiated through her ever-present smile.

Born in Hinsdale, Illinois, on May 5th, 1945, to the late William and Bessie Kreft.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Keith Gaines, on March 1, 2019.

Surviving are two sons, Robert Ritenour, Jr. and John Ritenour; one daughter, Susan Ritenour; four grandchildren, Josh, Jesse, Koelbe, Julia, and Jack; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Surviving are also three brothers.

Additionally, she was preceded in death by seven brothers and one sister.

A special thank you to the Gaines Family for taking such loving care of Barbara "BJ", who was devoted to her.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 29th, at Waco Memorial Park Cemetery, where she will be buried next to her husband, Keith.
