Annette Kirkman Bailey, age 93, peacefully passed away Monday, August 17, 2026 in Fort Worth, Texas. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 25th at Lorena First Baptist with Dr. Heath Kirkwood officiating. There will be a visitation one hour prior to the service beginning at 10 a.m.
Born October 26, 1932, she was the daughter of Loyd and Banna (Sledge) Kirkman. She attended Southwest Texas University in San Marcos, where she studied and later went on to teach English and mathematics. She also worked in clerical positions throughout her career.
Her faith and her family were central parts of her life. She faithfully taught Sunday School for 50 years, mostly within the Lorena First Baptist church, touching the lives of generations through her love, guidance, and dedication. She loved her family deeply and cherished her church family as well.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Weldon Bailey; grandson, Jonathan Boyd; niece, Jo Ellen Dunlap; brother-in-law, Dan Bailey; and sisters-in-law, Evelyn Adler and Lynda Pursley.
Annette is survived by her daughter, Lou Ann Gillilan; son-in-law, David Boyd; grandchildren, David Boyd and his wife Melissa, Nathan Boyd and his girlfriend Alicia Schultz; great-grandchildren, Natalie, Ryan, and Kaitlyn Boyd; sister, Mary Childs; sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Bailey and Janelle Davis; brothers-in-law, Jerry Bailey and Bill Bailey; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and many dear friends.
She will be remembered for her unwavering love for her family, her devotion to her faith, and the many lives she touched through her years of teaching and serving others. She loved her family and friends dearly, and her memory will remain a blessing to all who knew and loved her.
