Vicki Voltin

October 19, 1953 — March 1, 2022

Vicki Voltin passed away March 1, 2022, after a valiant 15-year battle with cancer, at the age of 68. Visitation will be from 6pm-8pm on Friday, March 11, 2022 at Pecan Grove Funeral Home in Waco, TX. Dr. Jerry P. Smith will be sharing a short passage and prayer at 7pm.

Vicki was born on October 19, 1953 to Aubrey & Pat Owens in Cleburne, TX. The oldest of four children, she attended Rio Vista High School. After graduating high school, she went on to work at various banks and churches in Rio Vista, Cleburne, Dallas, Waco and Clifton, Texas. While in Clifton she changed careers and began working in public education.

She met and married her husband, Glenn Voltin, and moved to Waco, TX in 2009 while working at Midway ISD as a paraprofessional. Vicki made numerous lifelong friends while working at Midway Middle School, many of whom she still had lunch and visited with regularly. She retired from Midway ISD in December 2020.

Vicki was a wonderful daughter, mother, sister, wife and a loyal friend to many.

Vicki loved Texas Rangers baseball and would often drive to Arlington to catch a game with her family. She also loved music - her favorites being Elvis Presley, oldies and anything on the KLUV radio station. In 2016, her name changed to “Mama V” when her grandson, Dylan, was born. He was one of the brightest lights of her world. She enjoyed every minute spent with him playing with dinosaurs, drawing pictures or watching him play baseball.

She is survived by her parents, Aubrey & Pat Owens; husband Glenn Voltin; daughter Lauren Kresta and husband, Shad; step-children Madeliene Voltin and Landon Voltin; sister Julie Bullard; brother David Owens and wife Karen; sister Lisa Schick; grandson Dylan Kresta and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family would also like to thank all of the special doctors, nurses and caregivers at Hillcrest and Baylor Scott & White over these last 15 years, especially her oncologist, Dr. Tara T. Barnett.

Memorials can be made to METAvivor, one of the leading metastatic breast cancer non-profit groups or the Midway Educational Foundation.

“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: He leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: Thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: And I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.” Psalm 23: 1-6
