Thelma Lee Horne was born November 9, 1919 to AC and Ella (McBrayer) Schwartinsky in Waco, Texas. She graduated from Waco High in 1937. Thelma married Nolan Horne on August 20, 1937 in Hillsboro. She and her husband owned and operated Horne’s Tractor and Auto in Eddy and Economy Sales in Moody from 1945 to 1981. After retiring in 1981, they enjoyed spending time with family and traveling. Thelma was an active member at the First Baptist Church in Eddy.

Thelma was blessed with the ability to live at her home until earlier this year, when she moved to a care facility. She was known to many by family nicknames, “Mutt” and “Gaga.” She was consumed with love for her family. Thelma spent many hours with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, attending as many of their activities as she could. Never one to shy away from a challenge, Thelma learned to ride a motorcycle in her late fifties. Her adventurous spirit remained strong well into her nineties, leading her to take numerous trips with family. Thelma enjoyed her coffee and visiting with anyone at any time. She was a devout Christian lady who loved her Lord with her whole heart, taking pride in her daily bible studies.

She is preceded in death by her husband; parents; daughter, Sandra Roming, an infant daughter and son; siblings, Thressa Schwartinsky, Billy Joe Schwartinsky, and Lorraine (Buddy) Rowton.

Thelma is survived by her son-in-law, Larry Roming; grandson, Val Roming and wife Tina; granddaughter, Shannon Bolding and husband Cliff; great-grandchildren, Samantha, Benjamin, and Courtney Roming, Elliott and Coleton Bolding; great-great grandsons, Luke and Levi Bolding; along with many nieces, nephews, and loved ones.

The family wishes to thank the staff and nurses at The Arbor House and Interim Hospice for their compassionate care for Thelma.
