Patricia Sorrells

Patricia C. Smith Hoke Sorrells, 80, of Robinson, TX, passed away January 20, 2021, after a brief illness with her children by her side. Born January 26, 1940, at Crab Orchard, WV, she was the daughter of the late Earl Smith and the late Cledith E. Smith of Alderson, WV.

The Family will receive visitors on Friday, January 29, 2021 from 6:00 to 8:00p.m. at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 Robinson Drive, Waco, TX. Due to current COVID mandates, limit capacities will be available. Facemasks are respectfully requested for all in attendance. Graveside services will be held at 12:00p.m. Saturday, January 30, 2021 at Chapel Hill Memorial Park with Father Jason Ingalls officiating.

Patricia was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers, Harold E. Smith, Bernard Paul Smith, Dennis R. Smith and Earl Lewis Smith; two sisters, Faye Smith Forren and Florence “June” Smith; her husband, Larry Gene Sorrells; and son, Richard Douglas Hoke.

She is survived by son, Michael V. Hoke, Jr. (Lori); and daughter, Beverly Hoke Fallon (Steve), of Robinson, TX; and sisters, Lillian Smith Crane and Juanita Smith Beverly (Sonny), both of Rupert, WV; Irma Smith Cadle (Howard) of Grassy Meadows, WV; and Shirley Smith Tolosa (Tony) of Alderson, WV; grandchildren, Shay Hoke MacMorran and son, Michael, of Waco, TX; Joshua S. Hoke of Pikeville, North Carolina; Sarah Fallon Manning (Marcus); Sean K. Fallon of Cedar Park, TX; Blayre Richard Fallon and Jack Stephen Fallon, both of Robinson, TX; Ravay Richardson Kriwer of Robinson, TX; Tyler Richardson (Hailey) of Waco, TX; and Shelby Richardson and son, Aydan of China Spring, TX; and Lynda Sorrells Wilson of Red Oak, TX; and very special Friend, Mr. Bill Hearn of Waco, TX. Sisters-in-law, Joann Eary Smith of Alderson, WV; Sally Hoke White (Jim) of Louisville, KY, Martha Hoke Talbott (Billy Ray) of Albuquerque, NM, and Kathy Williams Shaw of Hurst, TX; brothers-in-law, Eric Hoke (Ann) and Fred Hoke (June) of Austin, TX; and Buddy Shaw (Sherry) of Waco, TX.

Pat attended schools in Raleigh and Greenbrier Counties, WV, then married her high school sweetheart and went off to explore the world. When she got as far as Texas, she fell in love with the place and vowed never to leave. “Ms. Pat” was very active in her community and church and was employed by HEB, in Waco, TX. Gardening was her passion, and she loved to share her flowers and plants with family and friends. Ms. Pat will be sorely missed by her family and innumerable friends.
