Louis Wedemeyer

Louis Douglas Wedemeyer, Sr., 96, of Lorena, TX, went home to the Lord on Saturday, February 12, 2022. A celebration of his wonderful life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 18, at Cottonwood Baptist Church (890 FM 2643, Lorena, TX, 76655). Visitation will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., on Thursday, February 17, at the church.
Louis was born in the Cottonwood community on October 9, 1925, to Louis and Myrtle Wedemeyer and lived his entire life in the Cottonwood/Levi area. He was a lifelong member of the Cottonwood Baptist church serving as a deacon and in every other possible area of service. He possessed a beautiful singing voice and sang in the choir and several quartets. Louis had a servant’s heart and worked to meet the needs of others. He graduated from Lorena High School in 1945 and then proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II from July 1945 to November 1946 as a 1st Lieutenant. He was stationed in Yokahama, Japan, directing all operations of the 8th Army Motor pool. Louis married the love of his life, Margaret Wyatt, on January 9, 1948. They reared three wonderful children: Doug, Donna and Pat. He spent his life farming.
Louis was preceded in death by his mother and father; his wife, Margaret; brother, Buddy Wedemeyer; sister, Grace Wallace; and son, Doug Wedemeyer. He is survived by daughter, Donna Groth and husband Larry of Lorena; daughter, Pat Patton and husband David of Lorena; daughter-in-law, Connie Wedemeyer of Lorena; wife Marjorie Wedemeyer, of Waco; nine grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Aaron and Jordan Wedemeyer, Christian and Joshua Groth, and Matthew, Andrew and Jason Kruger.
The family would like to thank the Providence Hospice staff and the caregivers who took such excellent care of Dad.
