Jerry Wayne Ray, 73, of Lorena, TX, passed away Sunday, May 29, 2022. A Celebration of Life will be at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, June 11, at Hewitt Community Church, 212 Kiowa Trail, Hewitt, TX, with Pastor Ken Riley and Pastor Norman Cox officiating.
Jerry was born January 3, 1949, in Waco, TX. He co-owned B & R Remodeling before working as an inspector for the City of Waco. He was a master craftsman and started his own remodeling company, Ray’s Custom Remodeling. He loved hunting, fishing, golfing and was a lifelong Dallas Cowboys fan.
Jerry was preceded in death by his father, James “Jim” Turner, brother, Jimmy Lou Turner; and half-brother, Larry Ray.
He is survived by his wife, Nita Ray; mother, Geraldine Turner; son, Corey Ray and wife Denise; daughter, Kelly Balderrama and husband Matthew; grandchildren, Colby and Lexie Ray, Ridge and Hadley Balderrama; step-granddaughter, Ashton Nuebert and her family; sisters, Debbie Armstrong, Barbara Sullivan and husband Ron; half-brothers, Billy Don Ray and Gary Ray; half-sisters, Sandra Ray and Mary Upchurch; along with many nieces, nephews and other family members.
When the perishable puts on the imperishable, and the mortal puts on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in victory.” “O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?” Corinthians 15:54-56
