J.D. Cardwell

J.D. Cardwell, 78 year old peacefully passed away on January 13, 2021, at Hillcrest Hospital. Graveside services will be at Moore Cemetery, Chalk Bluff, TX at 1:00 pm on Monday, January, 18th, 2021. A viewing will be held 30 minutes prior to the service, beginning at 12:30 p.m., at the cemetery.
J.D. was born in 1942 to Eclar & Mamie Cardwell in Somerville, TX. He proudly served in the US Navy on the U.S.S. Coral Sea. Among his many endeavors in life, J.D. owned several restaurants J.D. Steakhouse in West, TX, and other known restaurants and clubs in Waco, TX. J.D. enjoyed country music, played with several local musicians including the late James Hand. He had a band named Deuces Wild, where he was the lead singer and played with well-known artists such as Rusty Wier and Gary P. Nunn. He truly loved country music and the musicians he played with through the years. Besides his love for country music, he enjoyed playing cards and you can say he was a Rambling, Gambling Man. J.D was known for his Big Heart and willingness to give back to his community, family, and friends.
J.D. is preceded in death by his parents Elcar & Mamie Cardwell. Sisters Jolynn, Faye, Millie, and brother, Don and son, Jerry Cardwell.
Survivors include one sister, Sue Cardwell-Wells, three sons Jimmy and wife, Diane, Mickey Cardwell, and Jeff Cardwell; grandchildren, Johnathan, Clayton, Tyler Cardwell, Crystal Locklear and mother, Linda Willis, Emily Coleman, April Grant and husband Brian, Ryan Grant and wife Deanne, Autumn Fairman and husband Anthony; Matt Grant and girlfriend Leslie; and Jessica Grant. He also loved his 12 Great Grandchildren, many nieces, and nephews. J.D. loved his Family & Grandchildren very much!
