James Robinette

September 28, 1930 — February 26, 2022

James W. Robinette Sr. passed from this life in his home Saturday, February 26, 2022 in Oglesby, Texas. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, March 4 at Pecan Grove Funeral Home with Martin Robinette officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Robinson Cemetery. The family will have a visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 3 at the funeral home.

James was born in China Springs, Texas on September 28, 1930, the son of a sharecropper railroad man Martin and Oma Lee Robinette. He was one out of five boys and he had three sisters. James graduated Waco High in 1949 and played third base for the Tigers. He was selected as All City Softball in 1950 or 51. He attended Baylor University for two years and then join the United States Army. James served in Korean War, once he returned home he continued army reserves till retirement totaling 33 years as a Master Sergeant.

James was made a Mason in 1963 at James H Lockwood Lodge number 1343. He was a Golden Trowel Award recipient, Past Master and participated in teaching many in degree work. He was a 32 degree Scottish Rite Mason and member of the Karem Shrine.

James loved ranching and Brahman cattle, playing golf with friends and grandsons, he was a 5 gallon member at the American Red Cross. He retired after 33 years at the US Postal Service. He enjoyed refereeing High school football for 15 years. Coached Robinson Little League, enjoyed hunting and fishing, watching grandkids at football games and baseball games. He acted like he liked gardening.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Nancy Sue Robinette; two children, Jean Ann Robinette and Steve Robinette.

James is survived by one sister, Margaret Spivey; children, Nancy Carol Denard and husband Donnie, James Robinette ll, Mike Mallory, Monette Pierce and husband Mike; grandchildren, Crystal Burnheart, Shane Mallory, Dustin Denard, Tamara Ratliff, Jesse Pierce, Orin Mallory, John Robert Klein; along with many great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, and cousins whom he loved very much.
